Supplies for Duckie

• Duckie Supplies are selections and the yellow pattern fill.

Let's Begin

Transparent 300x400. Load selections in the order they're in the zip file, placing each sel on its own layer, naming them as I will be referring to them in an out of order fashion (leave out the numbers; after the fills, they won't matter any longer).

Fills & Cutouts

First fill, then ctrl+a | ctrl+f | cutout each layer with these settings:

• Vertical & Horizontal: 0
• Opacity: 70
• Blur: 18
• Color: Black

01 - Back Feet - #FC9303 - blur is 18
02 - Body - Yellow Fur Fill - change blur to 25
03 - Front - Foot - #FC9303 - change blur to 18
04 - Head Top - Yellow Fur Fill - change blur to 20
05 - Eyes White - white - skip cutout
06 - Eyes Blue - blue - skip cutout
07 - Eyes Black - black - skip cutout
08 - Head - Cheeks - Yellow Fur Fill - change blur to 18
09 - Bill Bottom - #FC9303 - change blur to 9
10 - Bill Top - #FC9303 - change blur to 9
11 - Back Arm - Yellow Fur Fill - change blur to 13
12 - Front Arm - Yellow Fur Fill - change blur to 18

Bill

Retouch | Darken RGB

• Shape: Round
• Size: 40
• Hardness: 0
• Opacity: 15
• Step: 1
• Density: 50

Highlight Bill Bottom layer and place cursor over middle of TOP bill and drag down over bottom bill, JUST in the center. Change size to 25 and repeat as needed (you may have to move your retouch tool back and forth a few times).

Magic Wand with these settings:

• Match Mode: RGB
• Tolerance: 20
• Feather: 2
• Sample Merged: UNchecked

Click outside of Bill Bottom and hit del key twice (or Edit | Clear).

Drop shadow with these settings:

• Vertical: 3
• Horizontal: 0
• Opacity: 50
• Color: Black

Repeat same Magic Wand/Del and then use same shadow as with Bill Top. Turn off all layers except both Bills and Merge Visible.

You may wish to use the Magic Wand Feather Delete thing on his feet layers also, mine had that little cutout white glow around the edges.

Eyes

Highlight Eyes White layer, use Drop Shadow with these settings:

• Vertical & Horizontal: 1
• Opacity: 30
• Blur: 2
• Color: white

Highlight Eyes Blue layer and ctrl+y to repeat same shadow. Highlight Eyes Black and ctrl+y to repeat same shadow.

Change Drop Shadow settings to:

• Vertical & Horizontal: -1
• Opacity & Blur: UNchanged
• Color: black

Highlight Eyes Blue and ctrl+y to repeat. Highlight Eye White and ctrl+y twice. Turn off all layers except the three Eyes and Merge Visible.

Feet

Add 5% uniform noise to both feet layers. Do NOT merge.

Smudge

Before giving the smudge settings, I'll explain the way I did it. First I have my cursors set to Show Brush Lines; in PSP7 you will find this under the third tab in the Tool Options. I use the brush outlines to see where I want to place my smudge brush, which I begin with the brush INSIDE the shape, then dragging it out as far as it will let me. I do this all the way around the shape , then I move in to an area that doesn't show any smudge effects. I circle around again, repeating until I'm all the way in the center, making sure to smudge all the fur (chicks aren't furry, they're fuzzy *S*).

Retouch | Smudge settings:

• Shape: Round
• Size: 10
• Hardness: 0
• Opacity: 75
• Step: 1
• Density: 50

Smudge every yellow fur layer, making sure all fur is smudged. Place decoration (egg) under arm layers. Double check the overall smudge appearance and that the layers look correct and merge visible, save as psp or tube.
