How I got my Free DreamsSuite Filter to Work

I installed the filter, and pointed it to my plugins folder for PSP.

Opened up PSP7 and a small test image, went to Effects | Dream Suite.

A big screen with their logo opened up, then chaged over to the filter program. On the far right side, I saw it asking for registration information. I saw ONE button under it that was for getting my registration number. I already had it so I didn't need that button.

I didn't seen any other buttons at all. I tried to PASTE my registration number into the box, but wasn't able to. I typed it in and tried hitting enter, since that works with so many other programs. It didn't work.

I then double clicked on the blue header so I could move my program, and tried to stretch out the side of the program. It let me expand it only by a few pixels, but this was enough so that I could see the edge of another button.

I re-entered my registration number and clicked on the edge of the button. It threw out an error and shut down.

I changed my monitor resolution from THE MOST POPULAR RESOLUTION 800x600 to another resolution that only people with eagle eyes use *S* I then was able to see more of the registration area, and saw a third button. I entered in my registration number VERY carefully, as I could BARELY see the numbers to know I'd entered them in correctly.

Ok this worked! whew.

Here's 2 different ways of how to change the resolution (98se) in case you don't know how (hopefully other win versions are similar), just pick the easiest *S*

A. Right-click on your desktop, and pick Video Modes. See by my screenshot that I am on 800x800. I *think* I picked 1152x864, but I don't recall exactly, cuz the first time it wonked out my desktop all askew LOL. So if your desktop gets all weirded out (not just teensy), then pick a number lower down on that list 8-) and go register it.

OR

B. Right-click on your desktop and pick properties from the menu. Pick the settings tab at top right. Towards lower right, look for screen area, then move your slider towards the RIGHT one or two notches and click apply. I had to move the slider 2 notches (I don't know why my next size up is wonky, probably a driver problem *S*).

After you've been able to register, you can change your monitor back to NORMAL *S*

Getting the program to work from WITHIN PSP

I was UNable to get my filter to work from WITHIN PSP7. Thankfully Sally had posted about others only being able to make it work as a stand alone, so I tried that and it worked. The stand alone would open Jpg/Gif/PSD but not psp.

I saw a few others on the NG posting that their filter was working from WITHIN their PSP7, so I kept messing with it, getting errors, but I was finally able to get it to work (and w/o rebooting).

Here's what I was doing when it started to work (I'm NOT saying this is the work around, it might NOT work for you, but it can't hurt to try *S*).

I opened Dream Suite *from* the shortcut they placed on my desktop. I then opened PSP7, and an image from PSP7. Next (with both programs opened), I tried applying the filter to the image from WITHIN PSP (Effects | Dream Suite). It began to work and didn't throw out any more errors at all. I hope this works for all of you *S*
